Cohort Resources

Cohorts are designed to support sites in building their capacity and best practices in specific areas. Please review the Project Cohort sections below to learn more about the resources available to support each area. Documents posted below have been created by individual ExCEL After School Programs and their CBO Partners.

Balanced Programming Cohort
The
Balanced Programming Cohort will offer assistance in providing students with meaningful, engaging and fun activities that support academics and build necessary skills. Participants will receive community learning opportunities via cohort meetings, on-site support, and exclusive access to newly developed curriculum and activity kits.

Family and Community Outreach Cohort
The
Family and Community Outreach Cohort will work with participants to provide literacy/language development techniques to elementary school families. Participants will also develop skills to do outreach in their communities with CBOs and FRCs. The goal is to develop leadership within the ExCEL ASP, leadership within the community and strengthen support for our families.

Youth Involvement Cohort
The
Youth Involvement Cohort will provide resources and strategies to develop opportunities for youth to have meaningful roles in after school program activities. Through the Cohort, participants will be provided with steps and sample tools to implement youth roles in after school programs, generate youth planned events, and establish youth advisory groups for their After School Program.
