ExCEL Student Poets Head to NYC

In celebration of National Poetry Month, ExCEL After School students, Lauren Reyes a 4th grader from Mission Education Center and Matheus Davila a 3rd grader from Junipero Serra Elementary School represented the Bay Area at the 4th Annual America SCORES National Poetry Slam on April 19, 2010 at the New York Stock Exchange.  

On March 23, these poet-athletes debuted their spoken word skills in front the SFUSD School Board. What an amazing experience for these two students. Good luck Lauren and Matheus!
