By the Numbers – looking at 2013-14 LGBTQ Pride District Wide

Pride Assembly Everett MS

As we begin the 2014-15 school year, we want to take this moment to reflect on the success our schools had in creating supportive environments for LGBTQ students, families, and staff. During the 2013-14 school year, our school district saw:

  • Over 4,000 LGBTQ Pride wristbands and 125 “I heart Gay-Straight Alliance” t-shirts distributed to students and teachers
  • 76 school-wide events celebrating LGBTQ Pride across all K-12 schools
  • 67 school-wide events focused on Safety and Violence Prevention including information on LGBTQ bullying and harassment across all K-12 schools
  • 2 large district-wide LGBTQ events: GSA student conference and LGBTQ Families Dinner

Based on SFUSD School Health Programs data collected by our evaluator, ETR Associates, LGBTQ safety and diversity awareness was listed among the top 3 school health awareness priorities across all (K-12) schools in the district. This is an amazing achievement!

Support Services for LGBTQ Youth extends a special thank you to students, teachers, school administrators, families, and CBO partners for making this possible. This year we will continue to aim for more success, inclusion, and celebration!
