  Family Diversity: Talking about Gay and Lesbian Topics in School
  

Who: Elementary Certificated Staff interested in fostering supportive learning environments for all students and learning more about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth and families.

What: LGBTQ Family Diversity Training

• Grade level resources and information for school sites to fulfill district requirements of implementing two (2) lessons per grade of LGBT Family Diversity lessons.
• Best practices for creating supportive learning environments for all students with an emphasis on LGBTQ youth and families.

Where: Student Support Services Department, 1515 Quintara Street @ 24th Avenue

Why:

• To decrease the number of students reporting hearing anti-gay name-calling
• To comply with SFUSD mandated health education policy requirement
• To receive curriculum on how to support LGBTQ youth and families
• To create a safe and supportive classroom for all students and families
