Teachers take action by:
- Finding a professional chef to come to your classroom. Let him or her know what equipment you have available. Remember, chefs can prepare dishes without lots of equipment when and if they need to, and/or
- Organizing a restaurant tour to learn more about your community and the culinary profession.
.
- Students can share recipes distributed by their visiting Chef with family and try to recreate the meal or snack at home.
One First Grade Teacher said: “I enjoyed seeing my students eyes light up as they prepared the Romaine Lettuce. I never thought they would be so excited about lettuce.”
One Fifth Grade Teacher said: “I was amazed that 30 students have never experienced tofu before, and they learned professional cutting techniques - CLAW and SAW. Chef Natalia was great!”
Chef Soni said: “I was overjoyed that the students wanted to participate and were open-minded to trying new things”.
