Teach a Lesson

Elementary classroom teachers in SFUSD are mandated to teach 20 health education lessons per year, two of which should focus on nutrition education.

Guide your nutrition education with state developed Nutrition Competencies

Nutrition Competencies for California's Children is a manual for guiding school districts and agencies in promoting effective, sequential, and comprehensive nutrition education (pdfs).

Teach nutrition and physical activity promotion lessons from the district adopted Actions for Health (ETR) health curricula

Supplement the district adopted curricula with high quality nutrition education resources

  • Dairy Council of California Lessons (Grades K-12 and After School)
  • MyPyramid Lessons (Grades K-6)
  • Low Income schools in San Francisco can receive additional nutrition education curricula by contacting the regional coordinator for Children’s Power Play! and University of California Cooperative Extension representative.
