About Community Based Organizations

The Community Based Organization (CBO) aspect of the Student Support Services Department provides an avenue for organizations to offer programs and services to our students and families directly which they may not have had an opportunity to access through other means.

The CBO Program seeks to create a district wide process and procedure to ensure the optimal working relationship between school sites and community based organizations, striving to have an equal distribution of service provider resources throughout SFUSD.

These programs and services vary, and can include academic support/enrichment, computer training, mentoring, case management services and parent/guardian support groups. Most organizations provide services throughout the school day with some programs extending through summer and winter breaks.

In addition, organizations provide services directly to our students and families. To ensure that they have all of the tools and information in order to best serve the needs of our students and families, San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) provides all of our community based organizations with an orientation to partnering with the district and its population.
