Welcome to Elementary Health Advocates

The Health Advocate serves as a liaison between the Student Support Services Department (SSSD) and their elementary school to communicate health information.

Historical Background
The San Francisco Unified School District initiated the Health Advocate position in 1990 to create a way of communicating and disseminating information between SSSD and elementary school sites to increase awareness of and access to student health programs and services.

What is the goal of the Elementary School Health Advocates?

The goal is to increase school sites’ capacity to address the health needs of students in a holistic, comprehensive manner.
