Welcome to the Student Intervention Team

The Student Intervention Team (SIT) is a clinical mental health internship program that works to positively impact behavior, student attendance and academic success by increasing access to quality school-based mental health services.

SIT recruits, trains and supervises graduate level clinical interns from various University programs around the Bay Area and nationwide. Interns are placed at school sites at the elementary, middle and/or the high school level in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). In addition to placing graduate-level interns in the schools, SIT also offers crisis support, intern and employee consultation groups and professional development to district staff.

Trauma-Focused Internship Opportunities

In 2014, SFUSD was awarded a five year federally funded grant to increase school-based mental health services to address the needs of students exposed to violence. This is an unique opportunity for those 2nd year MSW students or MFT Interns interested in a trauma-focused internship experience.  Please see attached flyer for more information.

Comments from former SIT Interns

“My overall experience was great and valuable. I learned so much and was able to accept my strengths and deficits with the help of my supervisor.”

“Far exceeded my expectations! Absolutely wonderful experience – my supervisor was brilliant, responsive with kids and families. Thank you!"
