The School Health Programs Department supports
a series of programs and services that help each SFUSD school create
a healthy learning environment for youth. These
include:
Alcohol Abuse Reduction
Program
Providing resources to develop and implement innovative and effective
alcohol abuse prevention programs for high school students
Asthma and Indoor Air Quality Program
Serving children
with moderate to severe asthma in 30 – 40
elementary schools
California Healthy Kids Survey/Youth
Risk Behavior Survey
Conducting local health surveys to inform
program planning
Centers for Disease Control/Local HIV Prevention
Educating students, staff and parents about sex and STI prevention,
including HIV infection
Community-Based Organization Program
Providing
orientations for community-based organizations working on-site in
the schools
Comprehensive Health Education Program

classroom instruction to help students move toward health literacy

plans to protect kids from physical and emotional harm
Computer Based Health Strategies
