Nurse of the Day

…To provide access to current health information to every school.

Historical Background: In 1991 the Nurse of the Day Program began. Many schools in SFUSD do not have a school nurse and therefore may not have access to health information.

What is the Nurse of the Day Program?
The Nurse of the Day (NOD) is located at the School Health Programs Department. A nurse is available by phone all day (between 8-4 PM) to all schools to respond to health concerns and health questions. If a question needs research, the NOD does the research and returns the call.

What is the Goal of the Program?
The goal is to increase student health status and ability to attend school by providing up-to-date health information to schools every day.

Current Status: The program is in full operation daily for all SFUSD schools.
