Presentation Goal 

To promote classroom activities that encourage the consumption of the recommended amounts of colorful fruits and vegetables everyday & promote daily physical activity through garden related nutrition education.

Presentation Objectives

By the end of the training participants will:

  • Learn indoor and outdoor strategies and techniques for planting edible plants
  • Gain knowledge of garden-based nutrition education curricular resources, and
  • Acquire the skills to set up a worm composting bin

Participants overwhelmingly agree that the goal and objectives were met.

Please continue to review the nutrition in the garden survey and photo gallery. See what activities teachers are encouraged to participate in and what they have to say about the workshop in general.  For example:

  • 98% of participants agree or strongly agree that he/she learned about strategies and techniques for gardening inside and outside the classroom.
  • 92% of participants completed an action plan for gardening in the classroom.  
  • 97% of participants agree or strongly agree that the curricular resources link to garden activities and nutrition education.
