About Safe Passages

As a project of the Federal Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative, Safe Passages is about systems change and creating comprehensive, coordinated city-wide services to reduce and prevent violence, substance use, and behavioral health needs among San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) children and youth.

SFUSD, the San Francisco (SF) Police Department, SF Juvenile Probation Department, and SF Department of Public health/Community Behavioral Health Services collaborate to ensure that prevention, early intervention and intensive interventions are provided at identified school sites, Child Development Programs, and in the community to make our school district and city a safer and healthier place for all children and youth.
