SPOTLIGHT  RAD: Revolution in Art & Dance

This fall the call went out to all ExCEL After School Program participants to apply to perform in a district-wide dance showcase at Everett Middle School on January 25, 2007.

The Revolution in Art and Dance was an opportunity for ExCEL After School Program sites to highlight and share the talent and hard work of their students. In the process, it highlighted the recreation and enrichment programs at our sites, brought out youth and Site Coordinator leadership, and strengthened community based partnerships.

  • 10 schools participated this year: A.P. Giannini Middle School, Aptos Middle School, Bret Harte Elementary, Everett Middle School, Francisco Middle School, Galileo High School, Mission High School, Paul Revere, John O'Connell High School, and Sunnyside Elementary
  • Over 130 participating students performed Hip-Hop, Salsa, Tap Dance, Breakdance, Samoan Cultural Dance, and Stepping
  • Student MCs from Galileo High School ran the show
  • Students from Francisco Middle School created the artwork for the promotional materials and students from Everett ran the tech
