6th Annual SFUSD Genders & Sexualities Alliance Day
The 6th Annual SFUSD Genders & Sexualities Alliance Day, Stonewall: The Next 50 Years of Resistance, was held in April. GSA Day brings together LGBTQ+ and allied students across multiple SFUSD high school for a day of community building, affirmation and celebration.
April is LGBTQ Pride/Respect Month
April's Health Awareness campaign celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community. District approved bulletin board materials and curriculum that promote understanding, recognize the civil rights movement, historical achievements and rights of the LGBTQ community are made available to all schools.

April also includes the National Day of Silence, which is an additional activity to create a safe school by raising awareness of the discrimination LGBTQ people face and how they are often silenced due to the fear of discrimination.

Be an Ally and Stand Up for Pride, Peace and Safety
"District Wide Pride", "Wear it With Pride", and "Family Pride" - all in English, Spanish and Chinese! Copies are being distributed to all schools.

Kids Club: Interview with Laurie Vargas
After spending time talking with students and staff about creating more visibility for LGBTQ families, school social worker Laurie Vargas created a visible space for 3rd-5th grade Grattan Elementary School students with LGBTQ family members.
Since the start of this school year, this pioneering elementary school LGBTQ kids club has taken off! The students spend their time learning about how to address slurs, teaching their peers though skits, and having fun!
