Healthy Choices AmeriCorps seeks San Francisco community members to provide service to strengthen mentoring programs and to support a positive school climate. Must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma. Healthy Choices AmeriCorps members are paid a monthly stipend and are awarded an education award upon completion of the term of service engaging students, families, and school community members in positive activities. Spotlight: Support Student Success With Growth Mindset

Growth mindset is an underlying belief around our ability to grow and learn, even when faced with challenges. A growth mindset (versus a fixed mindset) can support increased resilience and learning in students, and supports a stronger work ethic. According to Dr. Carol Dweck of Stanford University, educators can help instill a growth mindset. National Mentoring Month - Special Shout Outs!

Mentoring For Success is grateful for the many school district employees who spend an extra hour every week to give special attention to their mentees. January is National Mentoring Month and while we celebrate all mentors, in January we want to send a special shout out to the following mentors for their exceptional attention to mentoring their students: Kathy Babcock,  Cesar Flores,  Kim Anderson, Mika Moore, Roxanne Huie, Debra Johnson,  Barry O’Driscoll, Andrea Haun, Annaluz Rockefeller, Allison Harman, Julie McElhatton. In addition to the non-cash items listed on our donations page, we also accept cash donations via Philanthropic Ventures Fund.  Donations allow us to provide scholarships for students interested in extra-curricular activities, fun monthly activities, and field trips for mentoring matches.  To make a cash donation:

Match of the Month

When there are mentoring champions in a school’s leadership we frequently find a community of many happy mentoring matches. Dr. George Washington Carver Elementary School is a prime example of this.
